For this city branding project, I developed a visual identity for Genoa, inspired by its narrow historic streets, known as caruggi, and its strong connection to the sea and harbour.
The narrow streets became the main visual element, translated into clean lines, bars and condensed forms. A maritime-inspired colour palette of blues, sand and earthy tones connects the identity to Genoa’s harbour and Mediterranean character.
I combined Gosha Sans for bold, geometric headings with Avenir for body text, creating a balance between a structured and approachable feel. The tagline “Small Streets, Big History” brings the concept together by highlighting the contrast between Genoa’s compact streets and its rich history.
